objective of the Toronto School of Worship (TSOW) is to train
and equip anointed worshippers. Apart from examining the heart
of a worshipper and worship as a lifestyle, the school utilizes
the amazing range of artistic expressions in the Bible; beyond
the literary, giving worship leaders the tools to be more effective
in bringing people into God's presence.
The work of the school is based upon the conviction that contemporary
worship necessitates grounding in the Scriptures. Courses, workshops
and seminars are deeply rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ and
contribute to the experience of a powerful encounter with the
Lord. TSOW draws on the rich treasures of church worship throughout
history, with appropriate cultural identification in Christ-centered
present truth.
We explore the theology of worship and God's presence, the philosophy
of effective worship leadership and practical applications needed
for ministry and life. Music ministers, church leaders and members
can benefit from highly applicable courses of study, and enjoy
the use of apostolic resources for worship education. Materials
advocate the creative use of music and the arts in worship and
support revitalized sacred actions of worship; helping the Church
to attain maturity and to move into greater dimensions in worship.
Because worship and the spreading of the Gospel cannot be limited
to just the literary art form, we take heed of the scriptural
references for the different art forms including: the dance, costumes,
banners, tambourines, metal casting, drama, instrumental music,
singing and sculpture. Art in worship can also communicate to
the lost, often getting around prejudices, leaping over cultural
barriers and disregarding handicaps of literacy and ignorance.
With Toronto having so many languages and nations in one place;
sharing God’s word in visual, non-verbal ways gives evidence
of God's presence in us. Studies prepare contemporary worship
leaders to serve the church community and empower outreach ministries
and world evangelism.
